Awkward!
I just had the most awkward moment and it left me racking my brain. I was at the library and a lady comes over and called me by my maiden name and was all "How have you been? You look great." Hmmm...I would have sworn I had never seen her before in my live if she hadn't called me by name (Granted a name I haven't used in 14 1/2 years, but still, it was my name at some point.). OK, so she is asking how many kids I have (clearly I was standing by a stack of children's books while the kids were still looking for more) and what I was up to. As I was telling, her Terrific T walked up and she said, "I used to teach with your mom."
Ok...so we taught together before I was married. Hmmm...that narrows it down but I still can't think of her name. Am I just getting that old or what the heck is wrong with me?!?! I texted my sister about it and she said "$5 the lady friends you on facebook within the week." She is on! It would be worth the $5 to be able to quit racking my brain. Of course, if she does friend me, I'll be deleting this post...so read fast ;o)

lol. That is awkward!
ReplyDeleteKevin was in a convenience store one day, and the guy goes, Hey Kevin how are you? Haven't seen you in a long time. Kevin didn't have on a name badge and didn't use a credit card w/ his name on it. He never figured out who the guy was! :))
And I have been blaming it on the nail fumes all this time ;) Good think T didn't ask who she was...in front of her-haha!
ReplyDeleteHILARIOUS! You definitely need to follow up with this one because I'm dying to know if you find out who she is.
ReplyDeleteI'm constantly in the same position and I have to run down the list of "How do I know this person...church, school, tennis, riding, etc,,," One time it was a mother and her young daughter and it turned out to be a girl I had started an IV on while she was in the hospital. We both went down the list and it finally came to us.
Small world.
Ugh..i am not a good name person. And I run into my little geriatrics at different places regularly. Talk about embarassing when they remember my name and I don't remember theres....lol
ReplyDeleteHi, found your blog through Nicolle's blog. Love this post! My husband is the WORST about these things. He is SO bad about names, yet, he can bluff his way through a 30 minute conversation!
ReplyDeleteI am SO glad I am not the only one. This has happened to me more than once. Awkward is right.
