Owie!

The kiddos were out back cutting on some wood tonight when Princess P starts screaming. I know I have talked about her "false alarm" screaming before but this was definitely a hurt scream. I ran out and she is holding her finger and Captain C is leading her in telling her, and me, that she is ok. It was a small cut, less than an inch...but it was DEEP. I have never felt woozie with an injury before but I about passed out tonight. I don't know what it was about that little, gaping cut but it makes me gag to think about it...did I mention it was deep? Oh my. So we get it doctored up and decide that we don't need stitches, then get P distracted talking about her day. Big Daddy mentioned her tetanus and I couldn't remember if that was the one I skipped last time so called the dr to check. While I am telling the nurse what happened, P says, "It's ok. It wasn't a chain saw, just a hand saw." Phew, thanks honey.

I am crossing lumberjack off of all of their lists of possible future professions. I don't think I can handle a real injury!

  1. Oh I am sorry that happened. I hope her finger heals nicely. ((feeling your pain on the gag and pass out feeling... I'm so right there with you on cuts like that...))

  2. I've seen the worst things imaginable when I worked in the ER and it never phased me, but if one of my kids wants to show me a loose tooth, forget it. I freak out. It's different when it's your kids.

  5. Ouch, indeed! Did Caleb pass on what happened to Samuel after I brought home this great dagger from ROG? Walking down the hall from getting it from me, he trips and takes a chunk out of his leg! Rubber and round corners until they're at least 15!

  6. AGH! That sends shivers down my legs. I'm glad it didn't require stitches, but I am sure with it being deep, it made you panic. I can't handle injuries either. I love what she said about the chain saw though! :)
